GAO is the vision of friends between Hong Kong and Copenhagen. Our goal is not to make the world’s most refined dumpling or the finest restaurant, but to give this loved Chinese food the platform it deserves – and bring it forward into food movements of tomorrow.
Inspired by diners found in Asian capitals, we strive to make casual, neighbourhood eateries that build a bridge between Scandinavian simplicity and street culture. Raw, honest and accessible.
The first bar opened in 2016 on Blågårdsgade and we’ve since added 2 more locations now serving more that 2000 dumplings per day… and counting.
Come alone or in a big group, choose your favourite combo, share across the table or take home. Our menu is simple but offers enough variety for everybody - meat eaters and vegans alike.
But GAO doesn’t stop here. We hope to bring more dumpling bars to Copenhagen and beyond… with partners who share the same vision as us.
